The 21st Century Cures Act, signed into law on December 13, 2016, includes resources to fight the opioid epidemic, mental health crises and cancer as well as changes intended to speed the regulatory approval process for new drugs and medical devices. Pharmacists and hospitals will be under more pressure to evaluate the risks and benefits of new drugs. And hospitals will be under additional pressure to provide enhanced mental health interventions and deeper insights for health information.
