What is pharmacogenomics? Based on recent survey results published by St Sauver JL et al in Am J Med 2016;May 5, many primary care clinicians don't know. The survey sought to understand the implementation and use of pharmacogenomic testing in these clinicians' practice. Overall, 52% of the clinicians did not expect to use or did not know whether they would use pharmacogenomic information in their future prescribing practices. Do you use pharmacogenomics in your practice? Do clinicians you work with have a good understanding of how pharmacogenomics can be integrated into their practice? Is pharmacogenomics our new reality?
